I visited Jamaica for two weeks in early 1985 as a much needed rest from my hectic life as a harness racing photographer at Greenwood Racetrack. I stayed near Negril at the newly opened "Hedonism" resort and during my time in Jamaica I took a few day trips around the beautiful island nation. I befriended one of the bartenders at the resort named "Jefferson" and he offered to be my guide for a day and show me around the island if I agreed to pay for the rental of two motorcycles, so I rented us each bike and he was my happy and able guide for the day. He took me to his house up in the hills and introduced me to his mother and sister. In my other day trips I went to Dunn's River Falls near Ocho Rios and walked up the river and then back down to lounge in the lower falls area. One of the more fun sites was "Rick's Cafe" just south of Negril where everyone goes to watch the cliff divers. You can jump from heights of eight feet all the way to forty feet into the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. One of the more interesting things I did while in Jamaica was get my P.A.D.I. open water S.C.U.B.A. diving license. It took almost a full week of the two weeks I was there.
