National Geographic Daily Dozen image of Descending Denali
I captured this image of the mountain climbing group I was with descending from the summit of Denali in 2012 on my second attempt... this one successful... to summit Mount McKinley, or "Denali" as everyone in Alaska calls it. Denali is the highest mountain in North America and it the second most difficult mountain to climb in the "Seven Summits" after Mount Everest. It is a treacherous mountain that kills many climbers every year. This image was selected by senior editor Matt Adams of National Geographic for the "Daily Dozen" column. Readers were invited to submit their photographs to the "Your Shot" column for consideration to be published in the "Daily Dozen." The Daily Dozen was the "best of" from all of the images submitted to the magazine for that day. This image was selected by senior editor Matt Adams. The "Your Shot" column has now migrated to Instagram and I have yet to submit images to National Geographic on that platform.
