I made my first skydive on May 13th, 1979 when I was 19 years old. I stayed in the sport of skydiving for 35 years and made a little over 6,500 jumps in that time. I was a competition skydiver in the years 2000-01 and represented Canada with a team I was a member of at the World Air Games in Granada Spain in the summer of 2001. One of the many other recreational things I did while involved in the sport was combine my love of photography with my love of skydiving. Not many of the negatives and slides from images I captured in my early days of skydiving have survived to this day but I have managed to digitally scan a few of the more memorable and interesting jumps from that time and I'm happy to post them here as they do represent the combination of both my early efforts in photography and my early time in the sport of skydiving.
