One of my climbing team mates, Lisa, stands atop a rock prominence a short hike out from 14,000' camp on Denali, Alaska, the highest mountain in North America. This particular rock is known by the guides as being a good spot to grab an iconic "summit" type of photograph even though this is not the summit of the mountain. the long glacier that is hike to get to this point on the mountain can be seen just to the right side of the rock she is standing on.
