There are three major rivers along the route of the Canol Heritage Trail in the Northwest Territories of Canada that cannot be crossed without some form of water craft. The "Carcajou", the "Little Keele", and the "Twitya" are all too deep and wide to try to either swim or wade across. This is the Carcajou River. It amazed me that so many people wrote in the travel journal books along the route about their inability to cross these rivers because they had failed to bring adequate water craft for such a crossing.
