My trip to Italy in 2009 was lovely. I spent two weeks driving through the country experiencing the beauties of Rome, Florence, Venice, Bolzano, and the Dolomites in the north. I also tripped into Austria for a few days. Although I'd visited Italy in 2001 only briefly, this time around I fell in love with the culture, food and people. I renewed my appreciation for all of those things and also the beautiful art in the galleries. As my father's side of the family is pure Italian I gained a deeper kinship with the land. For these images I had recently acquired the Canon 1D mark II n, and the 16-35mm f/2.8 L, 100-400mm f/4,5-5.6 L and 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye prime lens. I put those along with my 24-70mm f/2.8 L into my bag for this trip. I regret that I didn't make a stronger effort to get better images as I spent much of my time enjoying the sights with Marie rather than pursuing the journey with a photographic approach in mind. Italy will be on my list of places to visit again in the future. You can click on any image to enlarge it to full screen.
